Read about the 'happy endings' when our rescue pugs find their forever homes.

Skeeter's Story:

Skeeter came in to rescue in 2006. He turned 3 this past March. When we got him, he was very under weight, and recovering from eye surgery. He was lucky to have kept his eye. Now Skeeter is happy and healthy and well fed.

Skeeter lives with 2 other pugs, so he has playmates. He really is a character, and he keeps the other 2 pugs on their toes. He is the sweetest little guy, and has adapted very well. He loves to snuggle on blankets at night, and always shares his space with his sister. We are very happy to have been able to give him his forever home.

Skeeter update: Skeeter sees just fine now, although the eye is a little cloudy. He was also underweight, but we have worked hard to fatten him up! It's not easy getting a pug to eat - but Skeeter puts in his best effort! Ha ha!

We have two other pugs, Tobey and Ichiro. Skeeter is by far the most playful, and it has been really good for Ichiro, as Tobey is not in the mood to wrestle very often. Skeeter is happy all the time, and the most friendly pug in our bunch. All the neighborhood kids like him the best, because he is always happy to see anyone, and will let anyone pet him.

He is very well behaved, and goes right to his kennel whenever it is time for us to leave. He loves to sleep on blankets, and whenever we put a new clean blanket in his kennel, he spends the next hour just laying in it.

We are so blessed to have been able to give Skeeter a forever home. I hope the rest of his life he can feel safe and taken care of. We can't imagine not having him.

            Nemo's Tale:

Nemo came to Polar Pug Rescue from the local shelter.

He was a bloated, tiny, about 3-4 months old, and a mess. He was covered with bald spots and crusties caused from Demodex mange. Even with all that, his spirit was always very high and tail and body never stopped wiggling.

He was delivered to his new mommy in June of 2006 and she adores him, along with her three other rescued dogs. Nemo fit in immediately. He certainly captured our hearts and now the hearts of everyone else he meets!

Fiona's Adventure

Fiona was rescued by Polar Pug Rescue. She had been used for breeding from a very young age and was extremely thin. Although she’d been through a lot, her loving personality shone through and Polar Pug helped her find a forever home.

Fiona has formed a powerful connection with her new family, and is an amazing companion to their old pug, Scooby. At 14, Scooby can’t see or hear very well anymore. Because of Fiona, he’s been able to reconnect with what’s going on around him. He follows her lead and she waits for him to catch up. Fiona shows concern for Scooby and even shares her food with him! This is astonishing considering how thin she was and how anxious about food when she first arrived. It’s a testament to what an enormously loving heart she has!

Needless to say, Fiona is adored by everyone who knows her, and spoiled at every opportunity. She is a happy and playful pug, with a great sense of humor.

Update: 14 1/2-year-old Scooby passed away recently. Fiona and her mom are comforting each other.

Carly's Story

Carly came to Polar Pug Rescue from the local shelter, she had been dropped off sometime during the night and was left tied to the door.

Carly was underweight, half bald and had several scars. She had a severe ear infection and had scratched her ear so bad she gave herself a cauliflower ear. The staff at Polar Pug began calling her Carly-flower and the name stuck.

She has made huge strides since becoming part of a new family. She has gained weight and has grown a nice new shiny coat. She has blossomed into a happy-go-lucky dog and has really come out of her shell. She is still a little shy around new dogs but is becoming more socialized every day. Now, instead of hiding behind her mommy or daddy, she jumps into your lap and gives kisses!

                      Hercules (now called Tripp)

Hercules was brought to Polar Pug rescue after his family had a baby, he was left in the garage for a while before he was brought in. He was adopted in March of 2009 at 7 months of age. His new mom & dad were so happy to give him a loving little family which included their previously adopted (from another family) pug, Hendrix, who was 16 months old.

After a few days of going back and forth, they decided to change Hercules name to Tripp. Hendrix was a little thrown off why he had to share his home with Tripp but luckily they've moved to a new home and have a nice, fenced-in backyard and they get along marvelously!

It’s amazing how alike Hendrix and Tripp look, they truly could be brothers! This particular adoption was definitely meant to be.
